M8 VIDEO REVIEW

1. Explain why you selected the video you choose from the selection listed above.     The reason I selected, The measure of all things video, was because it was interesting to see how Greece was a visual reminder of how there was an explosion in philosophy, politics, art, and architecture.  It was in Greece where artist began to use their eyes to discover how natural bodies were, and they portrayed them to be how they were are.  2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.      From How art made the world video, the key concept I took from this video, which was also really cool, was the fact that the Venus von willendorf, was the 1st statute discovery found in Austria of an unrealistic body. It was found by three archeologist in Austria, who dug her from mud, but was only 4 inches tall. From this statute, researches than began to question why our ancestors exaggerated the human body when it came to art.       ...

M7 VIDEO REVIEW

1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.      Based on the, Science of Design video, something interesting I took away from it was, the fact that architects and urban planners don't always necessarily see eye to eye, when it comes to housing situations. Some of them see skyscrapers as a benefit and solution to housing issues. However, others are opposed because they would prefer to see houses integrated into nature and the environment.      With the Architecture as Art video, what I learned was that, Gehry as an architect likes to create buildings that also create an emotional response to an environment, as well as create something that interacts with us humans. He believes that there should be a sense of feeling and expression in the building. Its something I never really thought of, however, I now understand why its important, because it can make a connection with people which makes it humanistic.  2. How do the videos re...

PEER RESPONSES TO ARTWORK

1. Hyperlink the Blogs you reviewed into your Blog Peer #1: https://jenellegraap.blogspot.com/ Peer #2: https://simbiblogs.blogspot.com/      2. When looking at Project #1: (Elements and Principles), did you agree with the element or principle the artist listed with the images? Did you see other elements and principles in the images? For peer #1, I believe the photos captured clearly represented the elements and principles. The pictures were not over thought, simple, yet, unique. With peer #2 project, I found that she was creative with how she incorporated the elements and principles. It was done with everyday objects which made it more realistic. 3. When looking at Project #2: Where there any images in the Peer Blogs the same as your own? If yes, what were they? Where the reasons the image was selected the same or different as your own? I found that with peer #1, we selected the 2 of the same pictures to use for our project. It was interes...

VIDEO REVIEW

1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned. For the, Glass and Ceramics video, the concept I found the most important was the way glass was made. Although, I did know glass was made up of sand, I didn't quite understand the process and other elements that also are a part of it. What I learned, was that even though glass is made up of sand, it’s properties are different than sand. Yet, the process of making glass comes from fire, which is then composed of silicon dioxide or silica. Also, fluxes may be added, like soda, potash, or oyster shells. This allows for the fusion to improve, in 1,500 degrees celsius, and it also prevents the glass from becoming too fluid. Overall, all components react among themselves. As for the, Through the eyes of the sculptor video, the concept that stuck the most was how important stone is for the sculptors. When beginning the process of creating a new piece, the sculptor must be able to distinguish the condition the st...

PROJECT #2 ART GALLERY VISIT #1

Image
A.) Which artworks make an impact or impression on me? Why? The first piece of artwork that made an impression on me was, Mother and Son, by Nancy Dwyer. The moment I saw this piece I immediately felt a sense of selfishness and protection. Just by looking at this painting, her love and adoration for her son was portrayed through the way she was staring into his eyes.  Overall, the painting and her affection towards him spoke louder than if I were to read a background on this picture. The piece, Untitled #901 by, Robert Swain, also made an impression on me. With this painting, it brought a sense of happiness, with its wide range of bright colors. It was also cool to see the way the colors were portioned into small boxes, with the lightest colors contrasted against the darker colors. It was also fun too see the way color was incorporated in the simplest, yet coolest way. B.) Which artworks do I feel a connection with? Why? ...

LOGO DESIGN

Image
1. Discuss what you thought about creating your logo. At the start of the process, I was overthinking what I wanted to come up with. I wanted to come up with something that screamed me, without pushing it. I knew it had to incorporate my favorite colors, and I also wanted it sleek and clean, but also girly. 2. Describe the process: creative thinking skills and ideas you used in the logo creation. The entire logo creating process was exciting, because I had no idea with what I would end up with. I started the process by choosing a base, which would be my favorite color, blue. I tested out different shades of blue, and other colors I thought I’d use. After having my base decided, I knew I wanted some sort of shape, as a borderline from my logo. I tested out squares, rectangles, and even a hexagon. The borderline would be needed because I also thought my name or initials would add a nice statement to my logo. Also, when adding my blue base, I decided not to be so bland with the ...
