MOD 13/14 VIDEO REVIEW
1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
Based on the video, West Coast Pop Art, Something interesting gathered from this video was the importance with school of art was the post-world war II, which was also referred to as the atomic age or space age. There were B movies and comic books which were very influential. As well as McCarthyism, which was going on because people were paranoid about the war.
On the Acquiring Mind video, What I gathered from this video that was interesting was the Flemish Tapestry. I learned that it was woven out of wool and silk over 500 years ago. It was presented by Thomas Campbell who then presented it to de Montebello in 1998.
A key concept i learned about in the BBC culture show video, was about Tate modern. Where sitting in a room is a typical Tate Modern, and its where people look at artists work, where they are able to depict anything the artist created, which are entirely abstract.
2. Do the videos relate to the creation of your Art Exhibition project? If yes, explain how. If no, explain why not.
The videos do relate to the creation of my art exhibit because it influenced me to not play it safe. At first I wanted to create something simple, however after watching the videos, I decided to use more color, to use images that stand out, and that were out of my comfort zone.
3. What is your opinion of the films? Do they add depth to understanding of the art concepts you practiced while creating your curation project?
The videos helped give us a push to start thinking of ideas. I was pretty unsure of what to do with my project and the videos helped me branch out. They provided examples of various time periods and the type of art that was in at the time.
