1. Why did you select the inspiration pieces?
I selected those pieces for inspiration because they each brought out something unique and real out. To me they seem more realistic and not exaggerated, which is why I thought I'd do something a little in between.
2. Why did you select the media to create your self-portrait?
I decided to use watercolors to create my self-portrait because it has always been something I found myself going back to. Out of all the other options, using watercolors is my go to media. I find it to be fitting to me, the way I paint and how comftorable I am with it.
3. What challenges did you face in creating your self-portrait and how did you overcome them?
One of the challenges I had was trying to make sure everything came out exactly alike and perfect. I found my self constantly trying to perfect it or find ways to include small detail, when in fact I was content with the way it was looking.
4. How does this piece represent you?
This piece represents me because not only is it my face, but it is also the way I created myself. It represents the way I see things and how I able to express those things.
5. What elements and principles of art did you apply in this work?
One of the elements I used was color. When creating this portrait I wanted to make sure to include one of my favorite colors, which happens to be pink. It was cool to use different shades of pink to complete the look.
6. Did you enjoy working on this project?
I did enjoy working on this project. It was interesting to look at myself and try to recreate it because for us, we might see things completely different than others. To have control over the things I wanted to shed some light on and overall the freeness we have.
7. What do you think of your final artwork?
Overall, I enjoyed my creation because it was able to display the type of artwork I enjoy. It was fun to be able to create something that I am proud to have completed and will have it hung up.
